Extending a Conservatory

by David Bingham on 7 August 2010

Extending a ConservatoryIf you’re wondering if you can extend an existing conservatory, the short answer is yes!

We’ve manufactured lots of conservatory extensions for our customers wanting to make their existing conservatory bigger and it’s not as difficult as you might think.

Subject to the style and space available, an existing conservatory can be extended in any direction, either along it’s width or projection, however, in some circumstances, a complete new conservatory roof may need to be manufactured and supplied.

The easiest conservatory style to extend is the traditional lean-to conservatory and the easiest direction is along it’s width. This can be done with or without a complete new roof, subject to the specifications of the existing roof.

If you’re wanting a larger conservatory, then extending your existing conservatory has the benefit of saving you quite a lot of money and can be quicker than starting from scratch by installing a complete new, and larger conservatory.

The disadvantage of extending conservatories is that you can’t guarantee an exact match, particularly if the existing conservatory is constructed from a different PVCu system which more often than not, it is.

All this said, we have supplied many of our customers with the products they need to extend their conservatories and they have been extremely happy with the end results.

The photograph above shows a traditional lean-to conservatory in Golden Oak PVCu for which we supplied the products to extend it. Please click the photo to enlarge it.
